“The vibrations of a sound wave will dampen and dampen until they are equal to the vibrations of the surrounding medium — but it will always be present.”

EchostAR

In collaboration with Delia Parrish and Sinaan Younus

We set out to answer the following question:

How we can encourage social interaction, and create new connections within the community in a post pandemic world?

This question led us to believe that an immersive art installation using audio and visual inputs would be the best way to meet the goal of having users create a changing visual representation of the social patterns created by their interactions.

The project uses LEAP sensors for motion inputs; the white particle clouds follow the users movements.
Audio input is translated into the colorful dynamic background that responds to the intensity and pitch of the sound in the room.

The various layers of outputs in the installation are created to instill a sense of curiosity and playfulness with users experimenting to see what they can create as a group.

The evolution of EchostAR:

Audio reactivity only - a bit overstimulating

Motion reactivity only - a bit understimulating

Audio reactivity only - much smoother

Audio and motion reactivity- audio works well, motion still understimulating
